Sarah first discovered Osteopathy when she was in secondary school after receiving treatment herself, for posture-related neck and back pain. This began her interest in the osteopathic profession and led her to complete the Bachelor of Clinical Science and Masters of Health Science in Osteopathy at Victoria University. Since graduating, Sarah has gone on to complete further studies in pelvic health assessments, antenatal care and pregnancy, women’s health, breastfeeding conditions, and paediatric osteopathy.
Since furthering her skills in all of these areas, Sarah has developed particular interest in treating pre and postnatal women, and loves being a part of a family’s journey throughout the entire pregnancy. This includes treating women during pregnancy (specifically for lower back pain and pelvic girdle pain) and after delivery for postpartum care (including the assessment and rehabilitation of pelvic floor, abdominal muscle separation, pelvic floor). Sarah loves helping new mums get back to feeling their best, and empowering them in this next chapter of life. Sarah has continued to thoroughly develop her interest in this area, and is trained as a pelvic health osteopath, meaning she is qualified in internal and external pelvic floor assessments.
Sarah has undertaken further study in the use of Therapeutic Ultrasound, which she uses here at Total Balance to treat breastfeeding conditions such as mastitis, blocked ducts and engorgement. Sarah is very passionate about the incredible response we get from this form of treatment, as well as gentle, hands-on treatments to ease the pain and discomfort associated with these breastfeeding conditions.
Whilst studying, Sarah worked as a sports trainer at Cheltenham Football Club. It was here that she developed a specific interest in the management and prevention of common sporting injuries, through osteopathic treatment. She has completed further studies in dry needling, which she finds very beneficial in treating acute and chronic sporting injuries.
When she isn’t at work Sarah enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, keeping active, and planning her next holiday!
